Because the company was using Windows 2000 (in 2012 no less) and the LMS vendor did not support Windows 2000. Did the insurance company’s lead tell the vendor what they were using? Did the vendor ask? Again, if you are using Windows 2000 – might be time for an upgrade. So who’s at fault?

They are also big in the market – people are buying them. 2000′s – HD-DVD shows up, so does Blu-Ray. 2013 - LMSs are not the only learning system in town. The new kids of the block (please no jokes here) are Video Learning Platforms. VLPs are actually very inexpensive when compared to the LMS market.

The problem is that many LMS vendors either don’t know what it is, never ask people or tell them about its on/off synch capability with mobile devices (key for learning – tablets), especially the iPad (which dominates the market). In 2000, I had a LMS in the cloud and felt safe. You can too. Bottom Line.

Not so much, from what I saw – some of the tools were underwhelming (granted some were quite impressive), but rather how the vendors themselves perceived where the market is going and what customers want in their authoring tools. Another expanding feature set in the RCAT market. More vendors. I was enthralled.

A few vendors (and not just on the above list), customize so much, that you really have no idea on what the system originally looked like. For those of us who can remember, back in early 2000, products like Authorware were essential to building courses. There should be no issue in saving it – and output should be simple.

Small business is a very good market for them; but many offer pricing for SMB. Education, non-profit, association can be equally good markets for them. Segment as a whole is growing in terms of vendors. Platinum $1,499/m, 2000 active users. Cost for entire system is extremely low compared to a solid standard system.

Out in 2000. Boo.com (fashion apparel), 135M in funding, out of biz in 2000. . And it reminds of me of the years of 1998-2000, when the dot.coms seemed to be on fire too, only to crash and burn. This is because any vendor/platform/system could provide micro-learning since the start of the LMS space in the late 90’s.
