If you have a population of learners who have already adopted tools (such as blogging and social bookmarking) for themselves that are different than the corporate tool (the LMS) do you ask them to move? Most knowledge workers are used to thinking about that type of content being created for internal use only.

These changes are continuously transforming the landscape for knowledge work. The results are in, and most knowledge workers are struggling to adapt to new forms of work and learning. We will look over the shoulder of a modern knowledge worker using e-learning 2.0 How are we doing at keeping up with these changes?

However, it interestingly left out a lot of what I said was missing in my post - Yahoo MyWeb better than del.icio.us, rollyo, et.al. Further, if they don't feel comfortable making certain saved pages public, then this also will hinder adoption. for Personal and Group Learning from March 16, 2006.

And it looks like the folks at TELUS share a similar experience; while they may not have achieved just yet 100% penetration with their social tools, the ones who are making active use of them are helping everyone else get enough value, perhaps not just producing valuable content, but digesting it as well.
