No, I do not use Authorware now, but it is hard to predict what will be an essential tool 10 years down the road. If it's an e-learning tutorial that you're after, including the usual mix of multimedia and interactions, then you have to make an important choice, between tools that you install on your desktop and online tools: Desktop tools ( Flash , Authorware , Lectora , etc.) For an open source alternative, try EXE.

I was using DazzlerMax and Authorware, which are superior offerings for creating courses. When they went course aggregator, I saw them as a nice alternative to Skillsoft who was off acquiring other course providers including NetG and then down the road, Element K. At the time, I hated it. Thankfully, Taleo isn’t around to buy.

New Slide – Create a new page, chapter, lesson, whatever, generally speaking Slide screams PPT and no offense to the person who has been doing ID for x number of years, if you said “slide” to someone working on Authorware back in the day, you would have gotten a head slap. Same with the flash icon.

Alternatively the comments can be stored in a shared network location so that comments from every reviewer can be housed in the same location. Alternatively PowerPoint files can be linked, so that edits to the source PPT file are reflected in the Captivate project. Second, Adobe has introduced Widgets to Captivate 4.

Michael Allen, the man who created/invented Authorware, has started developing a new tool. Driver – “it doesn’t seem like it’s less expensive to do learning activities than it was when Authorware came out.” Runs fine, but a little slow. No concrete plans. ?. discussing a new authoring tool.
