For various reasons, Im not going to go back to school to get a Masters Degree in instructional design. But I firmly believe that this journey Im on is giving me the experience and educational equivalent (if not better) than a formal M.Ed. Even though Ive been doing this ("instructional design") for over ten years, Im starting over.

Our tools still require the user to work in the Flash environment, but you really dont need to know Flash. I think about this topic a lot.

Take learning a piece of software. If youve ever taught a software class, you know you will have explorers in your class who will wander off the track being presented in class following the "I wonder what happens if you do x" train of thought then get lost from where you are going. Heres what Healy says would work better: If an e-learning tool can somehow be coupled with actual face-to-face learning or mentoring then I am all for it. This post has been removed by the author. Maybe Im smart enough that I would have said that anyway.but maybe not. Just don’t use it as a replacement for real teaching.

The Connected Worker 21st century knowledge worker/learner "Im only as good as my network." Kids use tools like MySpace, FB etc. use these tools for social -- they dont have these in their learning toolkit. Shift is not to do what youre supposed to do. Do it when you want. This will have real implications for instruction.

The old theory: Up until now, Ive gone along with that concept of learning styles , which the books authors tell me is based on the information delivery theory. Im pretty skeptical of learning styles stuff, frankly (and justifiably). The realization that Ive been working off some really outdated theories.as recently as this week.
