Q: When I take a look at some systems I see that they very well known tech vendors, thus they must be awesome systems. A: Some of these well known tech vendors have multiple LMSs. While I know many LMS vendors and their customer base, I won’t say who they are in this blog, but trust me, big names abound.

Rather, “partner&# is a dual revenue steam for the vendor and their partner – a business relationship deal. If you can, go with the price the LMS vendor offered you. In this case, I have always scored a better deal with the 3rd party vendor directly, then the LMS vendor. Typically there is no cost.

We are all busy and have lots of things going on. It eliminates the “oh, I have a meeting” or something else event, that a salesperson may have booked, because it breaks away from the typical 60 minute demo. .

If you wanted to work on creating content, for many people, the route would be and still is creating courses via a desktop based rapid e-learning authoring tool, or via your LMS/LCMS vendor’s tool (hosted or not) or via Dreamweaver or some other type of solution. The twist to all this, is that for the Big Dog vendors or those whose main target is large size clients, this isn’t an issue – okay, not the Q/A, in fact, it is a big problem for many of them – rather it is inability to handle the client base. Accepts any courses built in any content authoring tools that are SCORM & AICC compliant – so you can upload and sell your courses that you built in Articulate, Captivate, even open source authoring tools (but they must be standards compliant). OpenSesame is not a LMS.
