In the webinar, I brought up how LMS vendors were themselves perpetuating the myth of the bad things of social media (which is a necessary component of social learning), so, rather than identify the facts and data to potential clients who are concerned about social media and thus social learning, they instead do not include it in their system.

While it is true that some vendors are offering a mobile learning LMS, it is with limited features and honestly, no one I know really wants to take a course or view any type of LMS on a smart phone screen. The biggest users of social media – and not going away any time soon is people in their 20′s (Pew, July 2010).

Even with slideshare, you can actually post e-books and other documents, so it follows suit in a system. Read, share, print or send to mobile devices: ebooks, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations/slides, documents, images, audio/video – user generated. Opens up learning, and makes your solution a one stop service.

Worse, they expect you to read their documentation, which often is written in such a manner that unless you have two doctorate degrees you couldn’t figure it out. Start with creating a RLT – Reusable Learning Type, then you are off and running. If you have limited or no tech skills, then no it is not easy.

To insert a quiz, document, pdf or video you click “insert”, find the file on your computer and upload it. One item that I found very cool with Mindflash is the ability to share the course via Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and e-mail. I found it to be quick and easy to do. One Other Note.
