I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner&# or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. SlideLive - upload a ppt and away u go, targets Academia - SAAS. It should be free – 100%. WebHuddle - very slick.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Vendor adoption is slow. It isn’t.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. Import and convert PPT to the web, add rich media. Who has time?

Web conferercing continues to be hot, but it is not as easy as just selecting vendor x or y, rather to find the best solution, it is important to identify certain items and features before moving forward. . There is a growing list of vendors, including small/mid size that are adding talent management components that match the Big Dog systems. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. It is interesting to note, that many of the vendors are targeting the SMB space, especially the small size (less than 500 employees) market.

They fail to even clearly show their product, let alone present the product sans the standard PPT intro that comes with “learn more” about the solution. At the end of the day, many of us, want to actually download or access the product via the “cloud” and take it for a test spin (i.e. Right product?
