Surprises in E-Learning One of the biggest surprises, is that so many folks are unaware that e-learning was an umbrella term, as I noted in the History of the LMS post. Vendors use it to refer to online courses/content. On top of that, they misspell it – the term is e-learning. No, you are not.

Despite overall consumer demand (not just within e-learning) for tablets, and numbers showing that tablets are outselling notebooks, e-learning vendors as whole are sitting back and waiting. auto show up in their preferred e-mail calendar. Frankly a few deserve coal in their stockings. Market as a whole.

I can’t speak for the seminars, well, I can speak of mine – and the feedback I heard was that a lot of folks really liked them. As for the seminars, I admit I did not attend them, but I did see loads of folks listening to the bonus presentations on the show floor. Why as an e-learning vendor you should attend this show.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. ISP (Internet Service Providers) fees were high. WBT (Web-Based Training).

What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land. Upside Learning.
