10 Effective LMS RFP Guidelines

Upside Learning

We received a Request For Proposal (RFP) from a leading Banking and Financial organization last week to deploy an enterprise wide Learning Management System. Would this LMS RFP process help the organization achieve its objective of finding a suitable solution? Would this document allow a vendor to map their solution as per the organization’s true requirement? The more explicit one can be, the more assistance the vendor can offer.

How to Create a Really Good LMS RFP

WBT Systems

Ask around for request for proposal (RFP) samples and send one of them to a dozen LMS vendors? You know the answer already if you read last week’s post : an LMS RFP is not the first step of the selection process, it’s the result of the first step. Only after a thorough requirements analysis process will you have the information you need to create a really good LMS RFP. Narrow down the field before sending out an RFP. An RFI is a stripped-down version of an RFP.

Learning Management Systems (LMSs) – powerful software tools that enable you to impart training effectively. Talented Learning

Often, these posts have 287 or more responses from LMS vendors, each claiming they offer the best solution, given the overwhelming evidence provided in the original 2-sentence help request. They’ve hit a wall with features that don’t accomplish what a vendor promised. Previously, before a multitude of specialized solutions burst onto the landscape, LMS choices were limited to a handful of “one-size-fits-all” vendors. It happens at least once a week.

The big elephant in the room that we hear so many times and vendors love to pitch (to get you to their system), but rarely the vendors themselves will admit to – many have only themselves to blame. Sometimes, it is the client’s fault and sometimes it is the vendor’s fault. I know, I know it is never your fault (client) – its those nasty LMS vendors, but as with the failure to recognize, often more than not it is duality, at least at some level.

You’ve likely endured heated internal discussions, unwelcomed vendor surprises during demos and unforeseen contractual confusion. Plus, you’ll gain an ally who can apply “good cop/bad cop” negotiating tactics with your vendor, if necessary.

What is an LXP and why do I want one?

These two vendors are EdCast and Degreed. Getting back to being unaware, I find the same issue with a few vendors in the learning system space who are really LXPs, but have no idea. It reminded me of the vendors in the space who scream they are not an LMS, even though they hit all the standards of an LMS. . The difference here though, is that those two vendors specifically, really had ZERO idea where they slid into. In version 2.0

Troy is a “triple threat” learning innovator with deep expertise as a content development practitioner, solutions consultant and technology vendor. But sending learners to a different vendor LMS for each course makes no sense.
