An API (Application Program Interface) enables an interface from a piece of software to communicate with another piece of software (in its simplest form) or multiple pieces of software (called a mashup). Twitter has APIs, so does Facebook, even Linkedin. Examples: Post your status update in Linkedin and it appears in Twitter.

The fastest growing segment on Facebook is 55 to 65 year old women. The age range of people using social media is 35 to 54, with a college or post graduate degree. Time for these vendors to wake up, or see your audience share disappear. They do not want to jump into the water, for fear of the social learning shark.

Social learning? If they were doing it, Facebook like page, a crummy blog that looks nothing like a real blog, a Twitter like feed, maybe RSS, text chat and YouTube functions and upload/download angle. Vendors are adding more “comments&# and voting i.e. yes or no or thumbs up/thumbs down features.
