There's an internal version of MySpace, which provides not only title and contact info but also personal profiles, job histories, interests, and videos. Soon it will show whether a person is reachable by, say, office phone, cell, IM, or telepresence, and offer a one-click connection. Great way to find expertise and resources.

A couple of people also had MySpace accounts. MySpace is seen as being too "creepy". All women. This is a main way of staying connected to friends.

Im a Word power-user and love all the little tricks and shortcuts. I started off cutting and pasting a lot of documents from Word into the wiki. Now Ive left Word behind and am writing everything directly in the wiki. Ive had to get used to the formatting -- or lack thereof. I miss them. But the payoff is huge.

Then again, perhaps Im missing something. Monday, July 02, 2007 The Gin System As Ive been trying to sort out the role of FaceBook lately, I cant help but wonder "wheres the content?" It seems to me that FaceBook is a great networking tool. You can point people to outside links, but I havent yet seen a great way to include content.

I also kept the LibraryThing listing books Im currently reading (or have read or intend to read at some point.), I just deleted a bunch of stuff and/or tried to incorporate it into my About Page. I did keep the Instructional Design Resources list, which seems to be useful to people. as this does get a lot of interest (aka "hits").

The Connected Worker 21st century knowledge worker/learner "Im only as good as my network." Kids use tools like MySpace, FB etc. Shift is not to do what youre supposed to do. Do it when you want. This will have real implications for instruction. Misleading to apply differences solely on basis of generation.

Back to the Google Desktop -- Im playing around a bit with the searching capabilities and am seeing the light. Im struggling a bit with figuring out how to set the preferences so that it searches where I need it to search (I save most of my files to a shared network drive; not locally). So the search feature -- I get that and Im sold.
