Let’s face it – RFI/RFP documents sent over to learning system vendors are massive tomes that confuse, challenge and even baffle some vendors. Maybe it is the product. Yeah, they are focused on essentials, again, forgetting this is a learning system and is for learning.

I thought about this, as you can tell, and said to myself, okay, let’s write a post where the e-learning history and thus learning systems, authoring tools, and alike are intertwined with good and bad ideas. Adobe was the first vendor to use templates to create courses. I never tested it, but they noted it.

I agreed to what in the analyst industry is an ’embargo’, which basically means you won’t disclose information (that you learned) until a certain date or period – in some cases – the imminent release of the solution (system, product, etc.). And in that approach, I believe they are right.
