My predictions for 2009: With the continued economic difficulties, e-learning will grow due to its cost efficiency, or at least its perceived cost efficiency. Finally, after too many training departments are downsized, we will read Kirkpatrick's 4 Levels of Evaluation , again!

The extent of my experience in evaluation has focused on applying Kirkpatricks model to classroom training and e-learning. Although there may be some elements of the model that lend itself to evaluating informal learning, I do not see the model as a whole working well for assessing the impact of informal learning. ► 2009. Evaluation) SMEs are subject matter experts because they apply the knowledge the course will teach, or work closely in some form with those applying it. This will be helpful in connecting you to the people that will provide evaluation data. Have your SME help communicate the importance of the course. Is it effective?
