Another Apple patent includes allowing users via touch free gesturing to move content from one device to another (example from your iPad to your television). Kinect technology and gesture free will equally make an appearance in 2012. Smaller size vendors are now entering the foray. HTML5 support – sorry Flash fans .

Early Signs for 2012. This will become one of the biggest features in 2012 – especially with people wanting to create simulations without being an e-learning developer. By the end of 2012, I’m forecasting that SaaS will finally overtake Desktop – but it won’t be by much. Output to Facebook.

Product Review: Totara

My Learning tab – shows alerts, recent learning, upcoming events. Graphical progress bar – basically less text or funky icons that only the vendor knows what is – example, a recall one vendor using a floppy disk to represent an online course. What I Liked. Social – solid, could be better.

Low Cost LMSs – Yes, u can find one for under 10K

Some systems charge on a per course uploaded or viewed, on a set number of users – with a maximum for example of 250, on credits – which I hate -but that is another story; on storage – you receive X amount, if you go over you pay extra. Best prices will be found in the 500 or less number of learners.

Vendors were saying, lets “wait on those&# or “our customers are not requesting them, so we are holding off&#. Social learning? If they were doing it, Facebook like page, a crummy blog that looks nothing like a real blog, a Twitter like feed, maybe RSS, text chat and YouTube functions and upload/download angle.

Top 10 LMSs for 2013

At the end of 2012, was #4, now it is #6. M-Learning offers online/offline synchronization. Great educational learning management system. Facebook and SMS (text) notifications. Certificates can look differently from one to the next. Easy to use. I still believe there is room to grow with the UI, especially Admin side. #6
