We are excited because this is the culmination of a lot of work for many people at both ADL and Rustici Software. In 2015, we at Rustici were awarded a BAA from ADL to help them revise the 2006 DoDI 1322.26. You can read more about that story on the Rustici Software blog if you’d like.

Rustici Engine has supported xAPI (the Experience API) since 2011 when we created the initial version for ADL. The last big overhaul we made to xAPI data storage in Engine was in 2015. We always expected the volume and type of data to cause scalability issues.

” Okay, with that out of the way, let’s get right down to the forecasts for 2015. One of the most interesting items which presents to me an unknown variable is CMI-5, a compliance standard (formally with AICC) now headed up by ADL. At least not for 2015. #1 In fact, I expect huge growth for 2015.

According to SCORM , “the Shareable Content Object Reference Model [SCORM], is a set of technical standards for eLearning software products.” While xAPI is able to innovate and adapt, taking advantage of new software and features, SCORM is limited in what it can do in order to remain compatible with such an early version.

A course is SCORM compliant when it meets the requirements of the standard set by the ADL. An API is a technique that allows software to exchange information. It will be in our product somewhere in 2015. SCORM compliant. This makes it possible to publish your course or quiz on a website, a blog, in an app on a smart phone.

On June 2nd, 2015, we were part of a joint webinar presented by Bersin and CUES. Answer: There’s four different Open Source LRSs that I’m aware of: Learning Locker , ADL LRS , lxHive and TinMan. Answer: The original version of Experience API was developed by Rustici Software as part of a research project commissioned by ADL.

If you do not know the ADL, they are a part of the U.S. The list is followed by free open source software that mimics and can even beat – IMO some of its more well known competitors – that you might use when building your WBT.
