Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, withdrew support to Flash in its iOS platforms in 2012, given the numerous malfunctions that happened due to it. In fact, in one of his articles, he said, “new open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and on PCs too)”.

This report got me thinking about what this mobile future means to our Learning Industry, and I concluded that as Learning Designers, we basically have 3 choices regarding the need to mobilize learning: Do Nothing. Mobilize Learning by Optimizing it for Touch. That’s only half the battle.

There’s no other Industry in the world that was more affected by Apple refusing to embrace Adobe Flash in their iOS devices like the eLearning Industry. I don’t have the exact numbers but I would venture to say that more than 98% of all eLearning was/is based on Adobe Flash (i.e. eLearning Mobile Learning featured'
