Most of the three dozen people convened by the irrepressible Aaron Silvers for a recent retreat in Sedona, Arizona, would say they’re designers, but not instructional designers. You don’t hear about tools like these at ASTD meetings and traditional training gatherings. We focused more on performance and less on training.

When the Institute moved to Arizona, becoming the University of Phoenix, for regulatory reasons, Cross chose to stay in San Francisco. He joined a new venture developing training for commercial bank loan officers. His firm, along with most of the training community, had a different vision: interactive multimedia CD-ROM.
