Zenler Online - you can only use their authoring tool – that said, I do like the system. Articulate Online - leaders of the pack. Coggno – has open ID which is a big win and some social learning. Not sure who they are.

I do not see it as an all in one authoring tool platform – again could be ,it is not, and for those folks who want to have some analytics you have to push the course into Articulate Online – the reason? See #1 – no SaaS.

Sure you can re-synch it with Articulate Online, but that is not the same. With lots of great features. You can read my review of the product here. Why not #1? Well features aside – Claro just destroys it, the lack of SaaS is huge.

Many folks know of Mindflash.com and Articulate Online. Non compliant – i.e no SCORM, AICC or PENS – however, I am now seeing a few vendors offer PENS (created by AICC back in 2005, but slowly gaining traction). Peer review. There are quite a few vendors in this space, but IMO the best one is dominKnow’s Claro.

As forementioned, Articulate offers an API for Articulate Online, Captive has one for a SCORM Player and does Rapid Intake. Moodle has quite a few APIs, including a SCORM Player. Drupal has a significant quantity of APIs, including shopping carts. Rapid E-Learning Authoring Tools. LMS Vendors. So who uses APIs in this space?
