We've started to use Google Docs for this purpose, which does the job, but means I have to keep two systems running in parallel. One of my projects at the moment involves me in pulling together a body of work with two partners. I want to keep all my notes in Evernote, but what we really need is a collaborative note-keeping space.

In my role as a consultant, it is hard to completely cut yourself off from business-related communication while on holiday, so the ability to receive all my emails and blog feeds was useful, along with access to my Evernote database and Google docs. Weather forecasts, maps and travel guides, with GPS support are all obviously useful.

Google Docs and Spreadsheets (formerly Writely), for word processing and the suchlike. At the moment I'm either using or considering using all of the following: Moodle , the open source virtual learning environment. DimDim , open source web conferencing. Vyew , free web conferencing and collaboration. Audacity , the free audio editor.
