I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. Plateau Performance.

I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Extended Enterprise – System must have e-comm, multi-tenet – fully skinnable, additional functionality. Your competitors are not always the Big Dogs – Learn.com, Saba, Plateau, etc.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Back to the original days, who did well Plateau Learning – Today?

Back in the days, the Plateau platform was ghastly awful. Jam – which is their social learning and collaboration tool. M-Learning with online/offline synch, native app, supports HTML5, gesture based design, MP4 and yes even EPUB. Also sells a Knowledge Management Platform, which can be added to LMS for an additional cost.

Plateau is now called SuccessFactors. Metacoon – Metacoon 2.0 - 80% of their solution is free, and what rocks about that is that these are some awesome modules. How amazing? Rapid Intake will stay as is – name, feature wise, etc. Learn.com is now called Taleo. GeoLearning’s Maestro product is now called SumTotal Maestro.

The reality is vendors have a script if you will, that they follow – it makes sense, because they do not know your e-learning level, knowledge level on LMSs, etc., It is the same assumption that unless you buy one of the Big Dogs – Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, etc., so having a universal is logical.

Some vendors who have failed to deliver, in my opinion, a user friendly system, due to front end or back end (admin side), or sometimes both. Plateau Talent Management System. One vendor follows this approach, if you want to change the menu labels on the front end, at a latter point with your system. CourseMill 6 by Trivantis.
