Good News: Spending on Training Increasing


Obviously, this is great news for learning and development (L&D) professionals. In a recent Bersin by Deloitte study , spending on learning and development rose by 12% in 2012. World Texting Message Smashed!! (I guess this is good news)

A 27-year-old British woman has smashed the world record for typing the fastest text message. Apparently, she was able to text a message in 25.94 seconds. But not just any message. The official message for the world record is: "the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human ". The wonderful achievement was done using Samsung's new Galaxy S's "SWYPE" key pad, which enables users to input text without their fingertip leaving the screen.

Good News: Most Employees View Development as Vital

Employees’ hunger for development gives CLOs an opportunity. The key is to drive deeper alignment between the needs of individual employees and the organization. Most employees view job training and career development as vital, according to a recent poll. An overwhelming 91 percent of workers said that job training and career development were among their top priorities, according to the poll by Lee Hecht Harrison, a career services and outplacement firm. Six percent called it a “duty.” ” Just 3 percent said it is a hindrance. That attitude has changed in recent years, however.
