Two situations recently have got me thinking about e-learning authoring tools. Everybody's got an authoring tool. The next generation of authoring tools included a handful of really serious players, notably Authorware (now with Adobe) and Toolbook (now with SumTotal), both still going although not so strongly. Why on earth not?

Rapid e-learning is swimming in too small a pond

I attended the panel discussion on 'the future of rapid e-learning tools' at the eLearning Guild's Annual Gathering in Boston today with a misunderstanding. But has anyone told the rapid content development tool builders? I thought I knew what 'rapid e-learning' meant. Notice how similar these definitions are?
