Today BlackBoard announced plans to merge with WebCT; the two leading providers in the higher education eLearning space (BlackBoard alone forecasts US$150M+ for their fiscal year). It also doesn't bode well for WebCT's willingness to play with open source (sorry Harold!)

Sorry, that’s marketing. You want marketing, I know some sites that will list you. Even open source systems. These are vendors who have been around a long time, build share of the market and generally speaking had early name recognition which has helped them in build business. Technology market.

Now I don't normally get very excited about LMSs but these awards attracted my attention, because in amongst the Sabas and the SumTotals was little ol' open-source Moodle: Award for market share - Small and Medium Corporate Learning Management Systems - Platinum award: Moodle.
