SCORM’s premise, not what it can or cannot do, was its huge premise of interoperability—far more so than AICC. The idea was that you have content in SCORM and add it to your learning system that accepts SCORM, and tada, it works without any problems or issues. In the late 80s, AICC, the predecessor to SCORM, was born.

One Learning System Terms/Types that isn’t what you think it means – Oooh, this is always a favorite, because it always trips up people. That says something about the entire process.

SCORM 2004 (formerly known as 1.3). SCORM 2004 is the latest version of the standard used today. The downside of the 2004 version is that fewer LMS vendors support it due to its complexity. There are other elearning standards like xAPI (Tin Can), cmi5, and AICC for more advanced capabilities. SCORM 1.2, But, SCORM 1.2

They weren’t the first person who said that to me, it is very common to hear it from other learning system execs, CEOs even, founders too, salespeople equally so. Other fun tidbits AICC was the leader here, then came SCORM. The LCMS Learning Content Management System.

.” I see this with marketing pitches, “course compliance standard, or compliance standard,” – no, no it is not. The industry does not have one standard that everyone uses and thus makes the entire e-learning world’s content/courses compliant. . I still see course libraries that are only AICC.
