Courseware LMSs – Good or bad for the industry?

Maybe you purchased it via Open Sesame, or Skillsoft. Maybe you scored it via Wiley, but in many possibilities you purchased the content thru your LMS vendor. What if instead of focusing primarly on the LMS, you went courses first from a vendor and in return got the LMS for free. Lets assess. Course rating: B+.

Note: There are vendors, including publishers/providers who use the term “EdTech” to refer to corporate, associations, education and government, which only adds to the confusion. There are way too many vendors who only have either GO1 or OpenSesame, which to me is a major error on their part.

On any learning system, you can or should be constantly assessing the effectiveness of the content, what folks are looking at, how long they are doing it and how often – in other words measuring it. Another vendor has one-page articles if you will, where learners print out and use. That is 100% untrue. You can negotiate.

What is in store for the LMS Space: My Forecasts for 2016

So, P2P hits mainstream, okay, quite a few vendors. I see some vendors including a note or comment capability to the content curation, especially with the mobile video. I’ve yet to see this extensive set of options, but I do believe that some vendor (at least a few) will offer some type of capabilities, although not as robust.
