Main system (portal or parent) can push out material, courses, etc. to the sub portals or children. Main portal or parent, can see all the sub-portals/children – data, info, everything.

OmniSocial is a social learning platform, with learning management capabilities and with the ability to select individual apps in the system and only use those you select to install onto your web site or learning portal. OmniSocial can be a standalone, or be integrated with your LMS. Confusing, right? I hate it.

As I have noted numerous times, if you listen to vendors, everyone loves their system, they have retention rates in the plus 90%, yet, somehow the number one thing they hear is that people are looking for a new system, they are unhappy with their current system. Example: you want a three year deal, the vendor tells you seven is better.

Moodle can be a worthwhile system but it requires heavy customization, dedicated IT person who has Moodle skill sets (ideal), in-house support (because when end users can’t figure it out – they will come calling YOU) and costs that many folks fail to realize.
