Blogging Inside or Outside the Corporate Firewall

I don't personally think this is the right direction for individuals and in my recent presentations on eLearning 2.0 , I suggested in my examples for what this looks like in a corporate environment that people use a tool like Blogger. I did suggest that they would either use a Wiki behind the firewall or use a password protected Wiki - because that's where the work product goes. If it's captured in a system inside the corporate firewall, it won't go outside.

Firewalls and Security in Software as a Service

One of the interesting outcomes of my recent course - Collaborative Learning Using Web 2.0 For us to be successful doing this, we first need to make sure that the system will work with whatever firewall restrictions exist. Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, so we had to switch to WebEx. Do not believe any vendor claim that "it works through firewalls" because a firewall can be configured to stop anything it wants.
