No service companies. Clearly says something about the state of the fragmented eLearning market -- mostly small shops providing services or companies doing it in-house using all of the aforementioned tools. If you were to ask people whose companies buy in elearning, youd be more likely to hear about the service companies.

Our vendor was very helpful, taking the necessary time to have it optimally integrated with our IT system. Our IT group changed the infrastructure a year ago, to *open source* (I don’t know what they were thinking), but fortunately my vendor says that they’d be happy to help change the installation to work with the new services architecture.

Of course, many vendors like to pitch it as “Web 2.0″ Does your LMS/LCMS vendor offer these? Virtual Worlds/Reality - Second Life. Open Social – APis, open source – while this necessarily isn’t social media, it will enable multi-faceted social media features and capabilities.

This continuing technological development means that e-learning developers can no longer rely on being more technologically sophisticated than rapid e-learning and need to utilise their other natural competitive advantages to sell their services. You can look to a wiki I have developed about Second Life and ProtoSphere to learn a little about how to use 3D synchronous tools. The wiki is open and free (thus the ads on the side). In addition to having excellent service for Windows users, we’ve been getting great reviews for our ease of use and support for Mac users.
