Articulate Storyline 2. Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? Articulate and a few of the other big dogs are holding on to desktop for dear life.

Some people might convert their PPT to a video (it can be done) OR they have that production facility and shoot their own high quality videos OR they purchase 3rd party content video courses. The biggest and best known of the initial RCATs is Articulate Studio, which uses PowerPoint as a cornerstone to their product. .

The rise of rapid content authoring tools, specifically the explosive growth of Articulate Studio, which in all sense of the word was nothing more than a PPT converter, allowed anyone, to create an “online course” ID skills not needed. E-Learning developer skills not needed. It works for some, and not for others.

Using RCATs like Articulate Studio. Usually I find the PPT driven approach, due to it. I started building such courses back in 2000, when I referred to them as scenario based courses. Worse to it all, is the fact that it is completely worthless to any one who is building the following: Micro-learning course. Video based course.

If a RCAT vendor tells you they have been in business for over 10 years, they are somewhat misleading, since WBT courses really didn’t start to hit the mark until 2000 and then you have limited choices on how to build. That was then. Macromedia Authorware and similar products. Macromedia Director. HTML and Javascript. Simulations only.
