Articulate Storyline 2. Yeah, they added new features and new capabilities, but they also took a product that even “Articulate folks” I talked with told me that Studio users using Storyline would have a learning curve. Articulate and a few of the other big dogs are holding on to desktop for dear life. Pick and Go.

Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim. Flash course development toolkit - provides the source code, features include ability to load your movies, creates a table of contents and provides complete navigation control.

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. HTML5 templates. Not anymore.

83% said Output to HTML5. The days of just PowerPoint to Flash and simplicity are no longer cutting it. But the success of products such as dominKnow and Articulate Storyline are proving there is a demand beyond e-learning developers. . I also found the HTML5 numbers to fully back what I have been saying for the past year.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Jump on the Bandwagon. It isn’t. Thus, ease of use is a strong requirement.
