Some have ads, which can be a downer for some folks, others require the person to either use VOIP or call in with a non toll free number. . They also have a lot of partnerships with LMS vendors – so that adds to an additional distribution channel. . The argument of course is that “support and service” costs money.

If you are an Authorware fanatic missing the old days, you are still going to miss it – because while these capabilities are being added to tools they are still not at the level of Authorware. Audacity which is free – destroys it. A few vendors include game templates – Yipee! Audio Editing.

If I am vendor, whose product is paid (i.e. not free, or not 100% open source) and I have to do 100% customization to land a client, I would worry about my cash on hand and debt load. Authoring Tools (Rapid E-Learning). We are Family, not every user. In reality, it often is not the case.

Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? Lots of royalty free stock photo options here – you still have to buy the license mind you, but you can find truly “free” without giving credit to anyone and add it. People like free.
