Most of the new authoring tools either use PPT as their backbone or offer the ability to import slides. Interface creation, navigation buttons, LMS tracking, and testing abilities are then typically added to the PPT functionality. Using these new tools meant that I had to start using PPT. Everyone has PPT.

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? Joking aside much of the ribbon, maybe all, I wasn’t doing a cross comparison with PPT, seemed to remind me of PPT.

In the authoring tool world: PowerPoint focused authoring tool, Basically you know PPT, love it and want the ability to build within it and then convert your PPT to a Course. In the housing world that would be whether you want a townhouse, apt., condo, house, etc. They are out there, I wouldn’t use one, but they do exist.

Macromedia Authorware and similar products. While some could argue that Authorware was a RCAT, I disagree. PPT or Word to Flash and the end user can add a TOC, some assessments, audio, video, even additional flash learning objects and attachments. Macromedia Director. HTML and Javascript. That was pretty much it.
