The first software element that makes up a virtual world is a synchronous learning tool similar to WebEx or Adobe Connect or Saba’s Centra. At a designated time, an instructor logs into the software as do the learners. The second software element of a metaverse is the ability to easily create content within the virtual world.

A portfolio of learning assets was created, which included ‘above the line’ learning interventions (instructor-led classroom and online classroom) as well as ‘below the line’ (e-learning, email and phone support, with corporate social networking groups). This was accomplished using Bupa’s Saba Centra virtual classroom platform.
