I wasn’t thunderstruck, but what I was surprised at was the number of folks who had or were about to purchase the well known authoring tools in the market, Articulate, Captive and Lectora. I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. Fatboy Slim – Praise You.

Despite the overwhelmingly number of vendors who have a “desktop only&# solution, based on what I am seeing- a result of new feature sets – this will change. While there are SaaS tools that do not yet offer this feature, it will change. Remember when only a few offered the PPT to Flash option in their tools?

Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) Next up, Lectora! Well besides my rankings of course, think about this: 1st vendor to offer collaboration and peer review. 1st vendor to have online/offline mobile synch. Oh, HTML5 output too.

Trivantis – Lectora Inspire – the product now supports HTML5, and comes with templates for tablets including the iPad – which is a good thing, since I will have my iPad with me. Lectora’s Snap! Lectora Snap! Library pulls in your video, audio, flash and image files right from your video,image, flash, audio folders on your computer – GREAT IDEA – although I wish they added HTML5. Lock closed – element is locked, you cannot change it on the page.
