Interestingly, a large portion of LMS vendors have not optimized their products for the iPad/ iPad2 and with the exception of two content authoring tools, HTML5 capabilities, specifically the ability to output a course in HTML5 does not yet exist.

Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) Well besides my rankings of course, think about this: 1st vendor to offer collaboration and peer review. 1st vendor to have online/offline mobile synch. 1st vendor IMO to truly have HTML5 output.

I can honestly say, the ATD show is changing from ILT driven (it has always been that way) to e-learning improvement. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . NO SCORM or any course standard. Bottom Line.

The note of interest is that it is occurring with all size of vendors, albeit the charge is being led by mid size vendors. Not all of the big dog vendors have entered this space, despite it being a huge revenue opportunity. That is expected to change. Another trend – ability to make changes in a more quick fashion.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. In the latest podcast featuring Volkner Zimmerman who is on the executive board at IMC-AG, he explicitly states that HTML5 is necessary in any course output for mobile. Change is invetiable.

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. HTML5 templates. Can output to MP4 or Flash, I loved the MP4. Oh, did I mention you can create your own character right in the product, including changing outfits and much more. Please note they do not yet support HTML5, but again with MP4 no worries – it can be seen on any tablet, including iPad. TOUCHDOWN. Pricing is low.

I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. It is easy to use and once you learn it, easy to push out content. Granted the changes are limited but at least it is something. HTML5 output, publish to the iPad and text to speech functionality. Articulate.

In order to achieve that, you have to buy all their packs and the HTML5 pack. Before you use the product, you must have Flash 8.0 Says it is multilingual, but there is nowhere to change the language in the product, so I surmise you have to order a pack with that language, rather than a quick click and flip. Oh, one other thing.
