Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement. The downside is you do not automatically get to use it.

On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. Q: We use WebEx as our web conferencing tool. The problem with the web conferencing tools that currently exist (as a whole) is that none of them are 100% perfect. Taleo – Should be mentioned.

Although you could use the product as a separate video and publish to YouTube, Vivemo, one of their products, your desktop and I think the web (I admit, I forgot the last one, but you get the idea). Can record you via a web cam, your voice and also you can upload slides – presentation for example. Easy to use. Outputs to MP4.

More vendors enabling the use of APIs – i.e. people can create their own API and integrate them into the LMS/Learning Portal vendor’s system, this equally means you can create mashups too.

GeoLearning’s Maestro product is now called SumTotal Maestro. Vendors can post a demo of their LMS, up to five minutes in length. Next to the demo, is the Vendor’s name, web link and they can have an e-mail connect to a general info box or directly to a salesperson. Learn.com is now called Taleo.
