Ekiga – VOIP and Web Conferencing, HD Quality – nice! It is VOIP, but the people on the other side, do not need VOIP. Linphone - VOIP, works with Mac, Windows and Linux. QuteCom - VOIP. Webcast Academy – free from the University of Toronto, who created it. some ppl love it, others say the quality is fair.

While there are a couple of vendors out there who have incorporated e-mail that can go to outside to people, rather than just within the learning management product, the overall space isn’t doing it. I see this as one of the most important features for any learning management system, open source or commercial.

Every e-learning consulting/research firm, etc. While the learning cloud and extended enterprise cloud are purchased by folks, I still see the platform – assuming you get all the modules as a HCM. That said, they are in my top 40 for learning/extended enterprise cloud. via VOIP, mobile, telephone, etc.

If the presenter is using VOIP, then audio is recorded during the presentation, because the audio is coming through the computer’s speakers. Most systems do not record the audio from attendees, even if they are using VOIP, but some do. Selecting and utilizing a web conferencing vendor should be a simple process, but it rarely is.

Dozens of LMS vendors, had typos on their web pages, zero screens of the system, links that went nowhere and two kicked up my Firewall warning of possible privacy collection and one had a Trojan Horse (I use a hardcore firewall and A/V). Social Media & Social Learning – LMS Style. We can surf the internet, find other vendors.

Compared to other e-learning industries, WC is not as stable. You record everything that is seen on the screen – including the presenter’s voice – which is achieved via VOIP (i.e. Does the recording stay on the vendor’s server and attendees access it? E-Learning 24/7.
