The big news this week is Microsoft buying Skype for $8.5billion. Maybe smaller companies would find Facebook an acceptable communication tool with a Skype feature incorporated into the mega-network. Or for larger companies that already have an Sharepoint and other Microsoft offerings, perhaps Skype becomes a better more private internal communications tool. In our company we use Microsoft Lync (sort of internal skype). I use Skype but lately I use gotomeeting and gotowebinar more and more to connect to people outside our company. They give better quality and more functions than Skype. I noticed that I use more and more social media tools and different tools to communicate. Maybe I use too many of them. Personally, I work with colleagues using Socialcast in one instance, and Skype with another (tho’ Skype really isn’t a full solution). I woke up this morning thinking about the tools we use at various levels. Maybe OneNote?
