CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Thus, simulations, courses that were engaging/interactive (in many cases) was available.

I see this power including interactive simulations, simulations in general and even the use of APIs or along those lines embed into the HTML5. SaaS already dominates over 90% of the LMS space and there is an upswing with systems offering only SaaS and no longer the option for hosting on the client’s servers.

I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Desktop: Software is installed on your hard drive of your computer and you work on your computer.

“Upload your content to a web server, you just give your learners a link to the story.htm file” – This is to view the course in HTML5 on your iPad. Uploading it to a web server was not ideal, especially if you are unfamiliar with doing so, or your IT folks are not standing by ready to help you.
