CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Thus, simulations, courses that were engaging/interactive (in many cases) was available.

One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow. I see this power including interactive simulations, simulations in general and even the use of APIs or along those lines embed into the HTML5. Listen you love flash. with TinCan). Wait and See.

You work online via the servers of your vendor. I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Vendors who are already in the SaaS only space, should continue to offer features that maximize its power.

“Upload your content to a web server, you just give your learners a link to the story.htm file” – This is to view the course in HTML5 on your iPad. Uploading it to a web server was not ideal, especially if you are unfamiliar with doing so, or your IT folks are not standing by ready to help you.

As the evolution of e-learning continues, the rapid content authoring tools (RCAT) market follows suit. This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing. A robust learning solution of multiple capabilities and outputs? Simulations only. 43 Vendors do not have one.

E-Learning and all forms within are normally taken via your desktop computer and either hitting your company’s server with your browser or going to a hosted LMS vendor’s solution. Creating high-def video for your courses, or people can upload for social learning or add high-def simulations or movies.
