Adobe’s CS4 suite is the second major release since Adobe acquired Macromedia. If you have been bugged by previous Flash versions not allowing you to publish for latest Flash Player there is some relief here. Flash CS4 allows us to finally publish SWF files for Flash Player 10 - the latest version of Flash Player.

The Open Screen Project was started to help create a singular experience on multiple devices (using Flash) be it Computers, Mobiles, TV or Game consoles. Obviously, using Flash platform tools offered by Adobe. The most important one is Adobe removing restrictions on SWF and FLV/F4V specifications. Is there competition for Flash?

Back when I first started developing e-learning courses, I used Macromedia's Authorware. For more interactive elements, I used Flash and imported the SWFs into Authorware. Almost every course involved using Flash for interactive elements (animations, games, quizzes, simulations, video, etc.).

Adobe Flash - An essential tool for creating highly interactive elements, including animation, games, immersive learning simulations, and almost anything else you want if you can manage writing or finding the actionscript. And it worked very well with my Macromedia Flash when I was getting started in e-learning.

So unless you are working in a tightly controlled internal environment, your SCOs should only be using client-side technologies such as HTML, Flash and Javascript. In reality, it is simply a single compressed file containing all the files (html, images, flash swf, etc) necessary for the SCO to function. The Details.
