It wasn't all that long ago that eLearning content and Help Systems served different roles and different audiences. If the learner is going to use a standard Windows PC or Macintosh computer, SWF output is fine. When you generate WebHelp or HTML Help, RoboHelp will automatically use the SWF within the generated Help System.

My caveat is that I am neither a multimedia developer nor a graphic designer – though my role often involves wearing those hats. When I published my learning object in Captivate, the software produced a swf file, an accompanying skin, an html host, and a javascript source.

Being able to create SCORM/AICC compliant courses that imports Flash SWF files and plays well with the LMS makes my ability to implement e-learning much easier. I expect either it or Yammer to play a larger role for informal learning at my company. Being able to add quizzes and publish SCORM/AICC compliant courses is a big plus too.

Of course, if one Captivate developer can overlook the role of the Preloader, it's possible others have as well. You can use any of the following formats as a Preloader: jpeg, gif, bmp, wmf, or swf. I helped him tweak both, and he reported that his lesson is loading much faster. What's a Preloader?
