PowerPoint 2010 has a new feature allowing presentations to quickly and easily be saved directly to.wmv (Windows Media Video) format. Open the presentation within PowerPoint 2010. When you use PowerPoint 2010 to Save As a.wmv file, all of your transitions and animations stay in tact.   All is not lost.

The first track was 2 minutes long, but you trimmed it down to 15 seconds and set it to play across slides. Perhaps your plan was to play the first track when the presentation started, move to the second slide, let the track end and then have the second track start. What gives?!

If you resize the PowerPoint presentation, the size of the imported slides you see in Captivate will match the width and height of your Captivate project.    To resize a PowerPoint presentation: In PowerPoint (2007 or 2010), choose Design > Page Setup. But we've got you covered. The Page Setup dialog box opens.

Probably the most complicated aspect of using motion paths is continuing the motion from slide-to-slide. You want an image on your slide to move using a custom motion path. On the next slide you want the image to move from where it ended on the previous slide to a new location. Duplicate this slide ([Ctrl-D]).

For some PowerPoint projects you may find that you would like to line up elements in a certain way and that having guides on the slide would be useful. Two guides appear on the slide by default (one vertical, the other horizontal). Most people who use the guides need things lined up at specific measurable spots on the slide.

You should now have three filled circles on the slide. The second circle should disappear, leaving you with a shape like this: Copy the new shape you just created by Subtraction and move the copy out of the way on the slide. Click the Shape Subtract tool.

Duplicate (Ctrl-D) will automatically copy and paste whatever slide you select and place it right below the original slide. It will be identical in every way to the previous slide. Copy, (Ctrl-C) will save a copy of the slide to your clipboard so that it can be pasted (Ctrl-V) elsewhere in the presentation.

On one slide you have an image fade in. Then when you click the image, it hyperlinks to another slide. Trying to reconstruct all of the animations and actions, as well as ensuring they're in the proper order with everything else on the slide, could be a disaster for you (or, at the very least, a small headache).

Recently, Lectora launched a new tool that integrates PowerPoint slides directly into a Lectora project. The layout of my test took about half an hour setting up the Master slide and linking the subsequent slides (pages; screens). Also, Lectora publishes the slide position at x=0 and y=0.

I wanted to animate the boat below so it "sailed" onto the slide. Do not click anywhere else on the slide, so the pieces in the copy will all remain selected. Naming all of the elements on your slide will help you keep them straight.     Adding the animation effect was not a problem.

On the slide, right-click one of the puzzle pieces and choose  Format Object. Select everything on the slide (press [ Ctrl ] [ A ]). Want to change your slide's layout? The Home tab, for example, is H. Pressing any of the tabs' assigned letters will take you to that tab and reveal more key shortcuts for that tab's commands. Press [ Alt ] [ H ] [ L ], use the arrow keys to move between layouts and press [ Enter ] to make your selection.
