I’ll readily admit that regardless of the course standard you use, if you create click-click-click courses, than no course standard will make it engaging. The industry does not have one standard that everyone uses and thus makes the entire e-learning world’s content/courses compliant. . At least not in a long time.

As many of you are aware the e-learning world is well known for its jargon. In turn it is this jargon that can create confusion and misunderstanding not only for newbies into the space but also for hardened veterans. If someone says to me, you can create game courses, then it has some type of actual game elements.

Considering the growth of authoring tools, learning platforms, even mobile platforms jumping into the assessment tool space with equal performance, it just seems to be moving down the opposite side of the bell curve. Again, you can find them in most learning systems and even some authoring tools. Collaborative Learning Systems.

The LEP space is now the 2nd largest segment in the learning system space (LMSs are still first). One area I am seeing trend wise are learning environment and administrative features starting to mimic LMSs (not 100% in some cases, but pretty close). . Learning Environment. Integration to other learning technologies.

An authoring tool solution is supposed to be all about the ability for folks to create, build courses that can be linear (A to B to C) aka click-click or non-linear (why WBT was empowered in the first place, where the learner can bounce around A to C to G, focusing on what they need to learn, and returning as often as they want). .
