PPT is among my must haves as well, good for concepts and I have tinkered in Articulate to produce some solid Interactive Job Aids (IJA). PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. The latter is slowly gaining speed, which is an advantage to LMS vendors who have a CAT in their own product – which is SCORM,PENS/IMS compliant.

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. Mobile Learning/HTML5 output – doesn’t hurt and has to be considered. I’m hopeful that more will join in (as they are doing on my new LMS directory – coming soon). 9 – ReadyGo!

Ability to publish to.exe, web – this has always been around, but one vendor spins it with “Offline SCORM”, then you find out this means you can download the course in its SCORM wrapper and either have it as an.exe, use it on the web (without a LMS) or publish it to a LMS. Guess what though? Every product can do it.

This manufacturing process training course was originally delivered as a four hour plus death-by-PowerPoint classroom session (if you could see the original PPT source content, youd begin glazing over within a few slides).
