What I am seeing is an increase in learning system vendors exploring online/offline synch with the iPad/iPad2 (and yes, Android OS). While there are vendors who offer online/offline synch with their LMSs, they are doing it via a universal app, which is geared towards the screen size of smartphone, rather than a tablet.

Self contained app on a tablet or I hate to say it – smartphones – bottom line everything can be done within the app, no need to click the app and go to the vendor’s online tool – after all, if that is the capability today, why would I even want the app, since I can just click my browser? Mobile learning – it might surprise you to know that 75-80% of all systems in the space, currently do not offer any type of mobile learning, the number goes up even higher for online/offline synch. Congrats, you are probably looking at less than 10 (based on my LMS directory which contains 475 vendors).
