The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. Authorware usage and fan base made Storyline supporters and usage look like a rock stage at a state fair. There are even fans today of Authorware, who if it was still around, would bounce right into it. Other course authoring tools started to appear right after Authorware.

You could use any of the many authoring tools, such as Authorware, but you needed an appropriate player. What about interviews, projects, job aids, searches, and all the other things that could contribute to an individual’s learning and ability to perform? Learning Standards. Something more was needed.

Should I write how there are learning system vendors who will white-label their mobile app (native) to the client’s brand name, which is an added plus when your learners are searching for your WidgetU in the Apple or Google Play stores, rather than the name of the vendor?

They provided just enough to make us dangerous with HTML, Flash, Photoshop and Authorware. No, I do not use Authorware now, but it is hard to predict what will be an essential tool 10 years down the road. Once you determine the tools you want to use, search out the application's development center and blogs that focus on the tool.

I won’t go into all the particulars on that side; instead, I recommend using an AI search engine or using the web. I was using DazzlerMax and Authorware, which are superior offerings for creating courses. At the time, I hated it.

This works across any subset of the content including sources, keywords and arbitrary searches. That's because they are ordered according to how closely the system thinks the companies are associated with the selected term within the content set. Seems so long ago. :) How about 2005 ?
