Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? Output to Facebook. I guess some folks believe that everyone wants to take courses in Facebook. That everyone uses Facebook, you know the 20 something crowd. Privacy issues continue to plague Facebook.

I’ve used a bunch of desktop authoring tools – Lectora, Dreamweaver, Authorware, Captivate, and Articulate to name a few. I had used the tool once a couple of years ago for a class and watched a demo of their Facebook integration over a year ago. I wish it had been around when I was pulling my hair out learning Authorware.

And yes, I will add that integration to Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook do appear today, but that is just minimal to the potential. The world of authoring tools started at the advanced level, Authorware, Toolbook and to an extent DazzlerMax. However, the possibilities to other API options is endless. No shock here.

For the authorware supporters this was akin to blasting the planet with gamma rays. I noted this on a post on Linkedin, and shortly read comments that were to be polite anything as a whole, of positive. E-Learning developer skills not needed. And knowledge of any ADDIE or another modalities, not needed. . Absolutely.

For those of us who can remember, back in early 2000, products like Authorware were essential to building courses. Authorware was a great product, but its learning curve was extremely difficult and user friendliness was debatable. We can go to Linkedin and talk about it. We can visit their social media sites and post about it.

New Slide – Create a new page, chapter, lesson, whatever, generally speaking Slide screams PPT and no offense to the person who has been doing ID for x number of years, if you said “slide” to someone working on Authorware back in the day, you would have gotten a head slap. And I am totally fine with that.
