Friday Finds — Persuasive Storytelling, Power of Words, Objectives

The key takeaways from his Learning 2023 session are aimed at presentations but are equally applicable to learning materials. To summarize, the study suggests that using the present tense is more effective in persuasion than using the past tense. Take away: To be more persuasive, use present tense verbs instead of past tense verbs.

Walking into the main room of the LEAP Ahead eLearning Conference this week, I was a bit frightened. Engaging a crowd before 9:00am can be a tad challenging, but Dale Stephens of UnCollege and Judy Katz of Nike got my blood pumping and brain firing on all cylinders. I was most impressed with the caliber of the keynote speakers.
