FocusOn Learning 2016 Presents “Microlearning: The Ideal Partner for Mobile”

He has also served as vice president of business development at Web.com; as principal of Definition 6, an Internet marketing firm that he co-founded; and as president of Web World. He was a member of the leadership teams for Skillsoft, NETg, Kaplan Financial, and AchieveGlobal, among others. Delivering mobile learning presents a challenge to any organization, given the smaller form factor and the fact that learners don’t want to stare at their screens for extended periods of time.

Growing From Knowledge-Based to Performance-Driven Learning

mLevel

I’ve found it’s not lack of expertise to create performance-based learning; it’s most often due to environmental constraints that make it rarely possible to do so: TIME: The business served by L&D demands (and deserves!) BUDGET: Closely tied to the resource constraint is the budget Whether learning initiatives are funded centrally by L&D or directly by the line of business, there are too many learning requirements and too few available dollars.

What you need 2 know: 3rd Party Content

eLearning 24-7

Who remembers NetG? NetG, was the evil empire of the days gone past – ok, in my mind. speed with no latency issues would be acquired by NetG and shoved into the Raiders of the Ark storage facility, next to the ark itself. Then – Client contacts their new LMS vendor or current one, says they need courses in Business, Safety, Software. Some may be free (TED) or some MOOCs, others are fee-based (Skillsoft, Skill Pill, Harvard Business, etc.). .

I need your advice on learning profiles

The Learning Circuits

full disclosure - As some of you may know, I joined Thomson NETg in January to run one of their strategic business units called Collaboration (essentially what was KnowledgeNet whom they acquired in late 2004). Very exciting (at least to me) but what I need is your feedback on a tool that Thomson NETg developed which I think is a hidden gem.

A Conversation with Bryan Austin of mLevel

mLevel

Bryan has had a distinguished career in corporate Learning & Development, including leadership roles with Skillsoft, Kaplan, AchieveGlobal and NETg. Austin: Corporate learning functions are often stretched too thin by the business’ increasing demand for learning programs coupled with the increasing pace of change. Either way, the service level of the Learning and Development (L&D) function suffers, as does its perception by the business and employees.

Content – Change the Narrative

eLearning 24-7

Leadership, Business Skills, Safety, Compliance-related, Software, Coaching and Software skills. Top name drivers are LinkedIn Learning, Harvard Business and recently Pluralsight (which is also learning technology too). Harvard Business is you buying a brand name. I’m pretty confident that if you had Walla Walla Business as the content provider, folks wouldn’t be screaming to take it. Non-business skills content – how many vendors offer that?

consolidation continues - BlackBoard + WebCT & more.

The Learning Circuits

Now having gone through a "merger" myself (SkillSoft and SmartForce) it sounds like BlackBoard is really acquiring WebCT and it doesn't bode well for WebCT given that there is a tremendous amount of product overlap between the two companies (a similar comparision would be if SkillSoft and NETg, the leading providers in the corporate education space, merged). The Resulting Big Five: (forecasted annual revenue) SkillSoft $200M+ NETg $150M-200M?

CLO Competencies: The Path for Future Learning Leaders

CLO Magazine

That very question was asked in a recent survey by Chief Learning Officer magazine of executives who are members of its Business Intelligence Board. For example, it was considered very important for future CLOs to have been involved in enterprise-wide projects such as improving operational performance, changing a culture, managing a high-profile campaign, improving a business process or launching a product — the experience side of the equation.

Merger mania in and around eLearning

All of this comes of the heels of SkillSoft releasing SkillSoft Dialogue , their version of a virtual classroom and NETg buying KnowledgeNet last year for their virtual classroom technology/LMS resulting in their Knowledge Now suite. Why Corporate Training is Broken And How to Fix It

Jay Cross

What worked twenty years ago doesn’t work well in the social, always-on, networked world of business we now inhabit. Management became recognized as a profession, Harvard Business School opened its doors, and the term “executive education” was first used. Training became a department and a standard facet of every business. Remember Digital Think, SmartForce, Pensare, NETg, KnowledgeNet, UNext, Docent, One Touch, Centra, InterWise, and their brethren?
